Dear Valued Customers,
Welcome to the 2016 wine making season. California has had some rain and snow in the mountains providing water for irrigation, so even though the State is still in a drought it’s a good year. The grapes look very good, much like last year, and will consist of smaller bunches and berries. This will enhance flavour and wine quality. The harvest is even earlier than last year and we are already taking pre-orders, since picking started the second week in August. As usual, place your orders early, so we can secure your grapes. We expect to start the season by 10th of September, with the first arrival of grapes being from Lodi. Sugar levels are expected to be very high, therefore it will be very important to monitor must temperatures to avoid stuck fermentation. Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Sirah, Merlot, Zinfandel, Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio are in very high demand by the wineries this year. Grenache, Muscat and Carignane are in short supply since many farmers are replacing these varieties with the more popular grapes. Overall, prices will be a little higher than last year. Our high end grapes from the Amador region and Shenandoah Valley are expected to arrive between September 22th and 30th.
We are also taking pre-orders for the Borrelli Premium California Grape Juices because they are made from fresh grapes and can only be ordered at this time. Since these juices have very high levels of sugar, we recommend using wine yeast and wine yeast nutrient, so your wine ferments completely. This year, for the first time, we are introducing the Belladoro Grape Juice Line that is made in Italy. Amarone, Lambrusco Salamino, Spergola and many more variety of juices will be available from Italy. We have already made samples of wine and they are incredible. Prices will be available the first week of September. If you would like to make wine from these juices pre-order them now or make them at our on-premise wine making facilities, where we are bringing you the Italian flavours. As always we will be offering de-stemming and pressing services on premise with our world-class machinery. Thank you for your patronage and we look forward to seeing you this year!
Sincerely yours,
Max and Louis Borrelli
